Why Pilates and Chiropractic are best friends.

“You are only as young as your spine is flexible” Joseph Pilates

Pilates is a wonderful, low impact yet powerful form of exercise that has been around for years. It is synonymous for not only toning and strengthening bodies but also for preventing injuries and easing back pain. No wonder there is a direct relationship with Chiropractic care and Pilates.

Truthfully there are many benefits to Pilates but let’s look at a few related to back pain and why our friendly chiropractor often recommends Pilates to further their clients progress.

There is a direct link between spine health and core strength

–       Helps with neutral spine alignment and good posture

–       Improves strength and flexibility, particularly around the shoulders and hips and therefore helping to prevent unnecessary in the vertebral column.

–       Helps improve the strength of the back muscles

–       Addresses and improves postural asymmetries which helps to decrease tension and stress on the vertebral column.

At Pilates on 88 Bay we are lucky to work closely with the chiropractors at Brighton Wellness group. Working in the same building and being part of the same team means we often share clients and work together in improving the clients overall health and well being. You will often find us in a huddle discussing our clients and how we can work together to get the best possible results.
